Why Should I join GymbaROO / BabyROO?

For the last 30 years Gymbaroo has not only been successfully running classes all over Australia, but also the world. It is an award-winning parent / child movement and education program, and is based on years of extensive research on the importance ofmovement as the key to education.

GymbaROO’s aim is to assist our enrolled children to develop to their full potential, by setting a solid foundation for their school years.

The program uses age-appropriate activities that enable children to develop, explore and practice skills for healthy neurological development. This underpins later emotional, social and academic success.

Our GymbaROO / BabyROO activities are not only fun to keep your little one engaged, but they also assist with developing fine and gross motor skills, balance, strength, coordination and much more.

Gymbaroo is recommended by numerous health professionals, including: Child Health Nurses – Paediatricians - Occupational Therapists – Physiotherapists - Paediatric Chiropractors - Paediatric Osteopaths – and more

Dr Frances Glascoe, a leader in early childhood development, is a pro-bono patron of the GymbaROO program, as she loves what the program offers parents. She is also the author of PEDS (Parents’ Evaluation of Development Status), which has been rolled out Nationwide by Maternal Child Health Centres.

The American Academy of Paediatrics Developmental and Behavioural journal described the program as “an innovative Australian approach" in a four-page article.

Each week over 30,000 children and parents / carers utlise and enjoy this programme.

The program has been designed to make the most of the first four years of a child’s life, by building the brain pathways through multi-sensory experiences and essential movement. With these foundation skills successfully in place, a child’s brain is more receptive to higher learning when starting school.

We ensure that each child uses their body well - meeting movement (and other) developmental milestone. And as they develop and grow, we monitor that they are progressing through the program.

As a caregiver, we will teach and show you many things about multiple areas of development. We will also supply you with ideas and activities for you to do together at home. It’s fun for both sides, and also interesting and educational for you.

There are many toddler and baby activities to do with your child. However, children thrive on the comfort and security of routine, which includes familiar surroundings and people. This nurtures their confidence, and will encourage them to try new activities.

The GymbaROO program is designed to last until your child goes to kindergarten. Each new level of our program caters to match your child’s developmental leaps - which usually occurs every 4-6 months.

The kids who progress through our program from babyhood have an amazing awareness of their own bodies and how to use it. They have well-developed body strength, coordination, attention-spans, balance, concentration, visualization, confidence and fine motor skills. This means that are far more prepared for any complex tasks they engage with when they start their schooling journey.

At the end of every year, our graduating Kangaroo classes are filled with children who are physically, mentally and emotionally ready for formal schooling’s challenge. With an ever-increasing academically-demanding curriculum (that already starts in kindergarten), the GymbaROO program is a valuable investment in laying the foundations for your child’s future learning.

GymbaROO is the best decision you can make for YOUR child’s future.

Why is it important to attend Gymbaroo Classes in each age group?

Currently Gymbaroo is a 5-year program which is designed to complement a child’s brain growth and development - from birth, to reading and writing at school.

Our classes and activities are custom-designed for each different age group, in order to maximise each phase of your child’s development. It’s important that all the parents / carers understand the importance of each learning stage because the next part of the brain activates around every 6 months in the early years, and consolidates every 12 months (through to starting school).

Our program is designed sequentially – from only 6 weeks of age, right through to starting school. In our experience, we’ve had parents complete only one term, saying that they "have done Gymbaroo" - not understanding that only a small part of the program has been completed. Only a section of their child’s brain was stimulated in that time.

We compare it to building a house - if any part of your house has gaps, then that can affect the next phase of building.
